Lake Apopka lies just north and west of Orlando, Florida. And on the North Shore of Lake Apopka you will find miles and miles of gravel. You can encounter wildlife including alligators, turtles, tons of birds and much, much more.
The gravel on the North Shore is mostly car free except on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday when the wildlife drive is open to vehicular traffic.
You will be among wild animals in their natural environment so be smart and don’t harass the wildlife. And for goodness sake don’t try to pet an alligator. It will end badly for you.
Magnolia Park, the easternmost trailhead for the Lake Apopka Loop Trail, is a great place to park as the lot directly connects to the trail and there are restrooms.
Bring plenty of water as there are no services to be found along the length of the trail or along any of the gravel roadways.
