So many bike updates headed into unPAved!!!

First up – the wheels…Shimano GRX 650b’s with Teravail Washburn 47’s are installed and ready to go. In addition, new Whisky No.7 24f bars with Wolftooth Supple bar tape, a re-purposed bottom bracket, a brake bleed, along with a new chain and cassette got installed.

Any time you put this many changes in place at one time headed into an event it’s wise to shake it all down. And what better way to shake it all out than a sub-24 hour overnight on the C&O Canal Towpath. Joey and I headed up to Brunswick Friday evening after he got done with work.

We loaded up the bikes and rode the 5 miles to the Bald Eagle Island hiker/biker campsite and set up camp just after dark. Some jersey pocket Chipotle burritos around a campfire washed down with some whiskey finished off the night.

The plan was to be up early Saturday and head back to Brunswick to drop off camp gear, grab some grub at Beans in the Belfrey, and head out on a 50ish mile ride. Those plans were interrupted by a train festival in Brunswick. After getting stuck on the wrong side of the tracks twice we jumped in the truck and drove to the Catocin Aqueduct parking lot and headed out.

A few hours and 58 miles later we rewarded ourselves with a little Mission BBQ on the way home.
